A new method for esophageal function test by means of trasducer in esophageal cavity is introduced and the result of esophageal funcion test in 85 normal subjects is reported. Three methods namely, SPT, RPT and location method are discussed. Among them, SPT method was the most accurate one in detecting the length and location of LES, RPT mthod was not affected by respiration. Location method could measure the pressure at any point in esophageal cavity. The intraesophageal pressure was found the highest by RPT method. Au The pressures measured by the 3 methods showed on difference in sex bvt there was difference with age by RPT and location method. The barrier pressure was 9.92 ± 5.96 mmHg. The length of LES was 4.02 ± 0.95 cm. The coordination between the relax of LES and movement of esophageal body and stomach during swallow was studied. The results revealed that the relax, contraction and closure of LES are necessary for transfering food in esophageal cavity under normal condition. Normally, it needs more than 0.2 second for relax of LES during swallow.
